changing the world one song at a time...
I started playing the violin at nursing homes for my great grandma julie in Michigan. Even when she couldn't remember me, she remembered my playing and it always brought us closer together. I want everyone to have the gift of music, even if their great-granddaughter doesn't play the violin. I love playing at senior living centers. It makes me happy, and I hope it makes the residents happy, too.
My goal is to inspire other musicians to perform for seniors, to teach them by playing with me, and help them find places to play to build their confidence so they can go out on their own. The benefits to seniors of interacting with kids, and hearing live music are too great to ignore. As are the benefits to the kids sharing the gift of classical music. I think kids would be happier and healthier if they spent more time expanding their world in this way.
In the past year I have performed at over 50 senior living centers. I have involved 8 other musicians, 1 who started play solo, and 3 who play regularly with me. I enjoy playing with a group, and it's exciting to see that my efforts are expanding exponentially! Please reach out if you know of a place that would enjoy a free concert, or if you would like to join me at a performance. Thanks!
